To provide
you with the absolute best portrait possibilities we offer a number of
portrait options you may consider. Each option is intended to provide an
effective way for you to customize the look, composition, and
presentation of your portraits.
Retouching
We provide cropping and minor retouching of all of
our portrait images without additional charge. It is our way of ensuring
that you are pleased with your portraits. Cropping creates images that
are the size of the prints you have ordered. When you view images in
your private gallery they will have been cropped to fit a 4x5 (4x5,
8x10, 16x20, etc.) format frame. Minor retouching includes removal of
any obvious blemishes and slight whitening of the teeth and eyes. If
there are any other minor changes that will make the portrait more
pleasing, we may make those changes as well.
Retouching that goes beyond these standard
retouching practices can take a significant amount of time. Efforts such
as removing wrinkles, smoothing the overall texture or tone of the skin,
removal of stretch marks, altering the appearance of clothing, slimming
the body, or making changes to a hairstyle can all be done and can make
dramatic improvements in the final portrait image. These are often time
consuming tasks so we must charge an additional fee for these services.
In many cases the overall benefits, especially on large display prints,
can be well worth the added cost. Please for a specific quote if
you are interested in additional retouching services..
Large Format Camera Option
We have professional large format Sinar cameras that can capture your image on a 4x5 inch piece
of film. The amount of detail and clarity provided with this camera is nothing
short of fantastic. If you are looking for a very detailed and or a very artistic
portrait then you might consider having one or more images produced using these
wonderful cameras. This is especially beneficial if you are considering
a large custom display print.
Due to the added setup times required and the cost of the film involved we charge
an additional fee for producing portraits on large format cameras. But, the relatively
most price may be well worth it if you want that once-in-a-lifetime
portrait to hang
over the mantel.
Medium Format Film
We also provide the option of having some or all of your portraits captured on
film using professional Hasselblad medium format cameras. The look of portraits produced with these
cameras is phenomenal and offer a great way to achieve a very upscale look to your
portrait images. If you think you will need several large prints, or if you simply want a high
end look to all of your portrait images, then ask us about taking one or more rolls of film using
these marvelous cameras.
Groups and Parties
If you are considering a portrait session then you might bring a friend and split the costs of the session. This
provides an economical way for you both to obtain quality portraits at an affordable price
You might also consider a having a "Portrait Party" in which a group of friends have a party themed around having
portraits taken. The portraits can be of any variety and the party can be of any size. Portraits produced at parties
are often very uplifting because of the general positive atmosphere
engendered by the presence of friends who have come
together for the purpose of having a great time and obtaining great portraits. If you would like to have a portrait party,
please contact us regarding the expected size of your group and the anticipated location of the party (our studio or another
location both work well).
Special Effects
We are able to produced prints using a number of different special effects. These effects can add a unique flare or
distinctive quality to a portrait print and are done selectively to prints at your request.
Potential special effects
might include:
- Selective Colorization - We use this effect to
render the majority of the print as black and white, but allow color
to remain in selective areas of the print. This tends to
highlight the colored portion of the image, making it pop.
- Vignette - With a vignette we overlay one image
on top of another so that it is enhanced and complimented by the
background provided by the base image. A common vignette
technique is to embed a portrait of a romantic couple into a larger
image of roses or other flowers. The possibilities are endless
and simply require two complimentary images and a little imagination
to obtain a unique and visually arresting image.
- Sepia Tone or Black and White - while we
produce most of our original images in color, we can convert any
print to a monochromatic image in traditional black and white or in
shades from any hue of the rainbow.
