Portraits can be done in many different styles and moods. A given portrait can be formal, casual, carefully posed, relaxed, spontaneous, joyous, moody, reserved, sensuous, dignified, artistic, elegant, or brash. While we are happy to provide some suggestions, the style of portrait is entirely your choice. Consider the style of portraiture you wish to capture and we'll work with you to accomplish that vision in your images. It is best if you have some specific idea of the style or styles you wish to have conveyed in your portraits. Knowing this beforehand helps in clothing, accessory, location, lighting, and background selections. It also helps during the portrait session as we can work together to obtain the perfect pose and expression that will convey the style you desire. If you have specific examples of styles from magazines or other picture sources that you would like to emulate, we will work with you to capture a similar style in your portraits. We offer free portrait consultations in advance of your portrait session. These consultations allow us to exchange ideas for how to best capture the style you wish to obtain. At that time we also discuss clothing, location, and other portrait components that have a direct impact on the type of images captured during your session. These free portrait consultations generally take place several days prior to your actual portrait sessions so that there is time to make any adjustments and to coordinate wardrobe, hair styling, makeup and associated items prior to your portrait session.
